Mitsuharu Hirose is an immensely popular knitwear designer and instructor from Japan.
Hirose became instantly popular after appearing on a television show as a knitting instructor. He creates amazing knitted outfits, simple yet elegant - making knitwear that people would really want to wear. Mitsuharu Hirose earned the nickname "prince of the knitting world." Sadly, here in the US you will not find his design in knitting and crochet magazines. Everything that I have found is in Japanese. Most of Hirose's works are published in the Japanese magazine "Graceful Knit". In his country Hirose is very popular and a media favorite, receiving many interview requests from TV shows and magazines. He travels all over the country, giving classes and appearing on talk shows nearly every day.
Herose supervises a production of a knitting instruction book, even modeling his garments. You can see him on the pages of "Graceful Knit" as a model. In one interview Hirose once expressed his worries that men who like to knit or crochet tend to be taunted as sissies. He said, "People can fully develop their abilities only if they are provided with an environment in which their individuality is valued and being different is all right." Hirose also believes that it is very important to teach knitting to small children. He said that "knitting would be good for children's education, since it requires perseverance and can be redone if need be."
You are probably wondering why am I writing about a knitting designer, right? The thing is that Hirose has some items designed in Irish Crochet Lace. They are also very simple and elegant as his knitted outfits. And here are some for you to enjoy.
