I am always inspired by nature. And since Irish Crochet Lace includes floral elements in it, I am always studying flowers, leaves, branches, colors and shades of colors flowers and leaves have. Sometimes I have to take flower apart to see the structure of it in order to recreate it in crochet form.
This summer I had an opportunity to crochet a purse for one of my clients. My client did not have a specific picture in mind and she just fully trusted me in making whatever I wish. I had an idea of roses. And most of all I wanted to make an ombré roses. I saw the picture of roses, leaves and other flower in my mind. All I needed to do - make roses as real as possible.
The problem was in finding thread that will give me that ombré effect. And of course, I did not find variegated thread that will be just right for my project. So, I was painting an ombré roses with different shades of one color. Those shades blended into one another perfectly, creating just want I wanted to achieve.
Here are some pictures of motifs, and of course the final result - purse "Rose Garden".
The body of a purse also crocheted. An entire purse is hand made. It is fully lined and has a magnetic clasp.
All flowers are made with DMC Pearl Cotton thread (##8, 12). I also used some Valdani Pearl Cotton thread. Crochet hooks used for motifs - 0.6 and 0.75 mm. For background netting I used DMC thread #12, and hook 0.5mm. Irish crochet lace applique is made in modern Irish crochet technique with irregular background netting.
